Mikal Bridges’ 0-0 NBA Finals admission will get Knicks fans hyped

The New York Knicks refuse to cool down, grabbing the 105-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs Friday. Mikal Bridges increased the energy levels for Knick fans with his NBA Finals admission afterward, though.

Bridges faced the postgame microphone immediately after the win inside Frost Bank Center. He revealed what the true mindset is inside the locker room.

“We’re going to fight until the end. [It’s] 0-0. Stay desperate at all times,” Bridges said.

Bridges’ words becomes near identical to the renown “Job’s not finished” quote from Kobe Bryant. The late NBA legend dropped that line during the 2009 NBA Finals against the Orlando Magic, when his Los Angeles Lakers went up 3-1 before winning the series.

The Knicks turned to Bridges’ shooting touch during the second half. Karl-Anthony Towns found Bridges in the corner to nail this 3-pointer.

But Bridges played facilitator too on this thunderous lob to Mitchell Robinson.

San Antonio countered with its own haymakers, including erasing its own 14-point deficit. The Spurs squandered that margin of a lead during Game 1 of the series. But the Knicks calmly threw their counterpunches, especially Jalen Brunson here to tie things up.

Victor Wembanyama then delivered a costly turnover and foul on Brunson. The latter eventually hit the winning basket from the free throw line. Wemby earned one more chance to give the Spurs the win, but his jumper attempt misfired and the Knicks celebrated in euphoria.

Bridges buried 20 points while adding six rebounds and six assists. He has the city of New York realizing that the Knicks are two wins away from ending the 53-year title dry spell. But as Bridges put it, the series is really 0-0 heading to Monday.
