'My sister is a legend' – Jemimah Rodrigues celebrates Smriti Mandhana's record-breaking century

Smriti Mandhana scored 124 runs against Hong Kong in the Women's T20 Asia Cup on September 3, 2026, at Dubai. Indian vice-captain's explosive knock came off 64 balls and propelled India to 193 for 5. India's bowlers then restricted Hong Kong to 56 all out in 16.2 overs, securing a 137-run victory.

Mandhana's century was particularly significant for the milestones it achieved. She reached her hundred in 57 balls and became the first Indian woman to score two T20 International centuries. More importantly, her 124-run knock took her tally to 10,880 international runs, surpassing Mithali Raj's previous record of 10,868 runs and establishing her as women's international cricket's leading run-scorer.

"My sister is a legend. Leading run-scorer in women's international cricket," Rodrigues wrote on her Instagram story.

Mandhana's century also marked another significant achievement in her career. The knock took her international century tally to 18, making her the batter with the most centuries across all formats of women's international cricket. She moved ahead of Australia's Meg Lanning, who had 17 international hundreds.

Jemimah celebrates the historic milestone

Rodrigues further emphasised the magnitude of Mandhana's accomplishment through her social media posts. The Indian batter's achievement represented a watershed moment in women's international cricket, as Mandhana became the first player to reach this milestone across all formats combined.

"18 for a reason," Rodrigues wrote.

The century was Mandhana's second in WT20Is, making her the first Indian woman to score multiple hundreds in the format. She has now reached three figures in all three international formats, another first for an Indian woman. Her 18th international hundred across formats also moved her ahead of Australia's Meg Lanning's tally for the most centuries in women's international cricket.

Mandhana's 93rd fifty-plus score in women's international cricket drew level with Raj's career mark for the most by any player in the game. Her 37th fifty-plus score in WT20Is stands alone as a format record, with Australia's Beth Mooney next on 33. The seven sixes she struck in the innings also took her past Harmanpreet Kaur for the most sixes by an Indian woman in WT20Is. Mandhana is also the fastest woman to 10,000 international runs, having reached that landmark in 280 innings.
