Mets announce multiple roster moves before Nationals clash

The New York Mets are set to play the Washington Nationals on Monday night. Before the game, the team announced multiple roster moves.

Right-handed pitcher Joey Gerber has been optioned to Triple-A while right-handed pitcher Daniel Duarte has been selected to the MLB roster. Additionally, left-handed pitcher AJ Minter was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Gerber, 29, appeared in only one game with New York before being optioned. He did not allow a run in his one inning of work. Overall, Gerber has made 20 appearances at the MLB level, pitching to a 3.27 ERA during that span.

Duarte is also a 29-year-old pitcher. He has not appeared in an MLB game since the 2024 season with the Minnesota Twins. Duarte is hoping to earn a permanent spot on the Mets’ big league roster.

The Mets have endured a difficult season. The ball club has underperformed overall. Additionally, the Mets have dealt with injury concerns.

New York is currently 20-26 overall and in last place in the National League East standings. The team has gone 6-4 over its past 10 games, however. Perhaps the Mets are getting back on track. Nevertheless, they have a lot of work to do.

They most recently defeated the New York Yankees 2-1 in a three-game series. The ball club is hoping to carry the momentum from the series into their upcoming matchup against the Nationals.

Monday’s game represents the first matchup of a four-game series. First pitch for the Mets and Nationals game on Monday night is scheduled for 6:45 PM EST.
