Maxx Crosby’s bold prediction underlines plans for future with unexpected career move

While the NFL waits to learn the future of Maxx Crosby, the superstar defensive end has announced a new venture.

The Las Vegas Raiders star announced on Friday that he has become part of the ownership group of Premier League outfit Leeds United.

Crosby – whose future in the Sin City looks more and more uncertain amid growing tensions between the 28-year-old and the Raiders organization – took to Instagram to announce the news.

There he posted an image alongside the caption: “Winners recognize winners. Proud to invest with @leedsunited. All in on the culture. “

He later took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) where he wrote three simple words: “God Is Great.”

Four hours later he posted another tweet which read: “Equity Is Everything. 🦅💎

Leeds are 100 percent owned by 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group LLC, with Paraag Marathe and Jed York owning 10 percent of the group.

49ers Enterprises also holds stakes in Scottish Premier League side Rangers, as well as NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers.

Conspiracy theories emerge

With Crosby getting on board, speculation has grown over whether the disgruntled Raiders star has also signaled where his next home in the NFL could be.

“So Maxx Crosby now co-owns a soccer club with… the 49ers,” Niners insider David Lombardi wrote.

Other fans were quick to draw the same conclusions.

“U know who owns Leeds im jus trollin or am i,” one user commented on X.

“So he’s going to the #49ers,” a second chimed in, while a third commented, “What a coincidence!”

“Oh boy…let the rumor mill run rampant,” a fourth added.

With NFL, NBA and MLB teams hugely expensive, most athletes who want to invest in teams seek ownership elsewhere, such as the NWSL or look over the pond to European soccer teams.

Crosby now joins other NFL icons to hold ownership stakes, including that of J.J. Watt (Burnley) and all-time great quarterback – and Crosby’s current owner – Tom Brady (Birmingham City).

Investing into Leeds’ future

Leeds owner York – who is worth an estimated $8.5 billion (£6.26 bn) – revealed to talkSPORT earlier in February that he has big plans to redevelop Elland Road.

“Leeds, to me, is one of the biggest brands in all of sports, and that was our goal is to make sure we put Leeds back on the map and where they belong,” York told talkSPORT’s Will Gavin at Super Bowl LX.

York spoke exclusively with talkSPORT about plans to redevelop Elland Road

“And that’s just part of the process is making sure we keep the the essence of Elland Road intact and make sure we make it bigger, better, and and truly for us to hear to be able to stay in the Premier League for for the for the foreseeable future.”

As it stands, through 26 games of a 38 game season, Leeds find themselves in 15th place in the league table, just six points above the relegation zone.

York also admitted – prior to the announcement of Crosby as part of the ownership group – that there will be a whole host of additional investment in their bid to restore The Whites back to their former glory as perennial Premier League occupants.

“It’s about making sure that a prominent team like Leeds United is where they belong and that’s always a goal,” he added.

“The goal is always to win. Whatever sports team we’re involved with, it’s always to win.

“And Leeds is on the right track. Hopefully we keep it rolling and and hopefully we see everything back where it belongs, staying in the Premier League.

“Maybe some investment in the summer to push beyond that then as well. There’s there’s always investment for Leeds and there will definitely be more.”
