Avalanche’s Josh Manson suffers injury scare in Golden Knights Game 2
The Colorado Avalanche are looking to bounce back from a Game 1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. So far, things are going well for the hosting Avalanche. However, as the second intermission gives way to the third period, Colorado may need to make adjustments for the potential absence of Josh Manson looming over them.
Manson threw a hit on Vegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev in the second period. As he threw the hit, his momentum propelled him forward as well. He collided with the boards face-first as a result. He eventually left the Colorado bench and went to the locker room.

It was certainly a scary incident, but thankfully, nothing serious came of it. In fact, Manson returned to the ice for the third period. This is certainly a good sign that the Colorado defenseman was able to return so soon after such a scary-looking injury.
Manson is an important part of Colorado’s defensive depth. This postseason, he averaged 15 minutes a game entering Game 2. In the regular season, he has averaged at least 17 minutes a game in every season of his career to this point. He, along with his teammates, needs to step up with Cale Makar currently out of the lineup.
The Avalanche are in the driver’s seat in Game 2 against the Golden Knights. Forward Ross Colton scored to make it 1-0 in the first period. To this point, that remains the only goal of this game.
Colorado is looking to make the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2022. The Avalanche will need all hands on deck if they want to take down the Golden Knights. Having Manson back in the lineup after such a scary-looking collision is certainly a benefit to Colorado’s odds of winning this series.
