Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault provided an update on Jalen Williams ahead of their best-of-7 Western Conference Finals. After Williams missed the Thunder’s Game 4 victory that eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers, he could make his return for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

Daigneault gave reporters the latest on Williams’ recovery from a left hamstring injury.

“Progressing. Same stuff. I’m not going to give you the blow-by-blow on the details,” Daigneault said. “But he continues to make progress, and is doing a great job.”

Williams sustained the injury in Game 2 of the Thunder’s first-round series against the Phoenix Suns. He was considered week-to-week before Oklahoma City ruled Williams out for the defending champions’ second-round series against the Lakers.

While sidelined, Thunder forward Jalen Williams had time for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s haters, addressing them in a recent interview after advancing to the Western Conference Finals. Addressing the foul-baiting narrative that surrounds Gilgeous-Alexander when talking about his greatness among NBA circles, Williams believes most people can’t compute Shai’s elite offense.

For Williams, Gilgeous-Alexander is on a different level than his peers, which he admits gives him newfound respect. Watching from the sidelines, Williams said, per ESPN’s Tim Keown.

“People don’t actually know what they’re watching with Shai,” Williams said to ESPN. “They just see numbers and don’t understand the experience. I wish everyone could sit courtside once in their life just to watch what he does.”

The Thunder will host the Spurs in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday.
