Mariners makes important injury roster move before Royals game
Through the first two months of the season, the Seattle Mariners have dealt with injuries that have hindered their progress. But the Mariners made an injury roster move before the start of their three-game series with the Kansas City Royals, according to Mariners PR.
“Roster Moves: Victor Robles, OF, reinstated from 10-day Injured List (right pec strain, retroactive to April 7). Connor Joe, INF/OF, optioned to Triple-A Tacoma,” Mariners PR wrote on X.
Robles’ return comes at a good time for Seattle, as the team needs all the available players it can get. Currently, Cal Raleigh, Gabe Speier, Will Wilson, Carlos Vargas, Brendan Donovan, and Miles Mastrobuoni are all out with long-term injuries. Additionally, there is concern about J.P. Crawford and the injury he just sustained. The Mariners have remained competitive but need to stay healthy.
Robles played just five games before suffering a right pectoral strain. He is hitting .231 with one RBI. With several starters nursing injuries, Robles could feature in the lineup for the M’s as they attempt to improve their standing in the AL West. The Mariners are currently 24-27, third in the AL West, and trail the Athletics by 2 1/2 games in the division.
The Mariners enter this weekend’s series with the Royals after playing inconsistent baseball over the past month. So far, they have gone 8-11 in May, playing inconsistent baseball. Notably, the offense has struggled, ranking 28th in batting average, 16th in on-base percentage, 20th in runs, and 21st in slugging percentage. While they are ninth in home runs, this “all-or-nothing” approach has produced unsuccessful results over the long term.
