Mariners get 2 crucial injury updates before Royals clash
The Seattle Mariners are set to host the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. It should be a competitive game. Two Mariners injury updates were revealed before the contest. Right-handed pitcher Matt Brash recently exited a game with an apparent injury while infielder Brendan Donovan is recovering from a groin injury.
“Mariners got good news on Matt Brash. No structural damage they still haven’t decided if he will go on the injured list or not,” Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reported.
“Brendan Donovan (groin) took several rounds of early BP this afternoon — he even playfully picked up KC’s Vinnie Pasquantino — but won’t be activated for this homestand. He’s scheduled for a rehab assignment with Tacoma and will meet the M’s in Chicago on the next trip,” Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reported.
Brash, a 27-year-old reliever, has not allowed a run in 14 outings this season. He has struck out eight hitters across 11.1 innings overall.
Donovan, 29, was an All-Star during the 2025 season and was acquired by the Mariners from the St. Louis Cardinals in a trade this past offseason. He was hitting .304/.437/.518 with three home runs before landing on the injured list.
It seems as if Donovan is trending in the right direction. Meanwhile, Brash seemingly avoided a serious injury but it remains to be seen if he will end up being placed on the IL.
The Mariners are currently preparing for their Friday night matchup against the Royals. The game is scheduled to begin at 9:45 PM EST in Seattle.
