Mariners’ Dominic Canzone leaves Red Sox game with concerning injury

With the Seattle Mariners dealing with injury scares throughout the season, here comes another one, as Dominic Canzone had to leave Sunday’s 3-1 win over the Boston Red Sox. As the Mariners got back star catcher Cal Raleigh, the team could now lose Canzone for some time, depending on what the next steps look like, as he is suffering from a right leg injury.

According to Daniel Kramer, Canzone was seen “grabbing the back of his right leg” after a RBI groundout to first base in the bottom of the sixth inning. At right field, Luke Raley took over for Canzone after he officially left the game.

“Dominic Canzone is exiting this game after an RBI groundout in the 6th inning,” Kramer wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “He was seen grabbing the back of his right leg, then briefly conferred with Mariners head athletic trainer Kyle Torgerson and went straight to the home clubhouse. Luke Raley takes over in RF.”

Mariners’ Dan Wilson updates injury to Dominic Canzone

After the game, Seattle manager Dan Wilson would update the media and say that Canzone is dealing with a “hamstring pull” and that the team will evaluate him on Tuesday, per sports anchor Arielle Orsuto.

“Dan Wilson says Dominic Canzone is day to day with a hamstring pull. He said they’ll evaluate after the off day tomorrow,” Orsuto wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

There is no doubt that fans could be concerned, especially after Canzone hit an opposite-field home run to start the game for the Mariners in the bottom of the second inning. Entering the contest, he had 12 home runs (making Sunday have his 13th), to go along with 33 RBIs and a .281 batting average in 70 games.

Seattle starts a new series on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, as the team has a 40-39 record, which puts them first in the AL West.
