Mariners’ absurd home run stat will catch all of MLB’s attention
The Seattle Mariners have built much of their identity around pitching, but their latest home run stat will catch the rest of MLB’s attention. The Mariners are suddenly slugging the ball like one of the sport’s most dangerous lineups.
The power surge continued Tuesday night during a 6-5 extra-inning road win vs. the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. The Mariners used two important blasts to stay hot and finish a tense road victory.
Mitch Garver changed the game first with a three-run bomb in the fourth inning. Randy Arozarena later delivered the decisive swing, lifting a two-run shot in the 10th to give Seattle the cushion it needed.
MLB Stats posted on X, formerly Twitter, after the win, putting the Mariners’ recent power run into league-wide perspective.
“The @Mariners have hit 26 home runs since May 25, more than any other team!”

That number reflects a clear shift. Seattle has long been built around arms such as Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, Luis Castillo, and Bryce Miller, but its lineup is now giving opponents another problem to manage.
Arozarena led the way Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with a homer, three RBI, and two runs. Garver added three RBI with his fourth-inning blast, giving the Mariners early separation before the Orioles pushed back late.
Gilbert also gave the Mariners a steady start, allowing one earned run over six innings with five strikeouts. The balance kept Seattle in position even after Baltimore tied the game with a solo homer from Coby Mayo and another RBI from Leody Taveras.
Arozarena’s 10th-inning homer restored Seattle’s lead, and Nick Davila closed it out to record his first career MLB save. He handled the bottom of the 10th after Samuel Basallo’s sacrifice fly cut the margin to one.
For the Mariners, the stat matters because it changes how teams must prepare. Seattle still has pitching, but the club’s 26 homers since May 25 make this offense now impossible to overlook.
