Manchester United cult hero to link up with Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in surprise World Cup role
Manchester United cult hero Javier Hernandez has taken on a brand new job for this summer’s World Cup.
Hernandez, better known as Chicharito, will be working for Fox Sports as an analyst for the competition that gets going on June 11.

The Mexican legend, who retired as his country’s all-time leading goalscorer, will be making his broadcasting debut.
“When the opportunity came to join a great company like FOX Sports and cover the FIFA World Cup this summer, it was a no-brainer,” he said following the announcement of his new role.
“I’m a rookie, so I expect to have fun as an analyst and learn.
“But really, I just want to share my perspective on how I see the beautiful game and sport that I’ve been playing my entire life with fans watching at home.”
Hernandez’s analyst job sees him join a star-studded list of pundits at FOX Sports for the World Cup this summer.
France and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry has signed up to be an analyst for the American broadcaster too.
And they’ll be joined by footballing legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the studio, alongside presenter Rebecca Lowe.
Hernandez at the World Cup
Chicharito played at three World Cups for Mexico across his 10 years as an international player for his country.
In total, he featured in 12 games, scoring four goals at the tournament after making his debut in 2010.
His tally of four goals is the joint-most ever by a Mexican.

Chicharito’s career
As he moves into a new role, Hernandez, who has not officially retired, may consider leaving his playing days behind.
The 37-year-old last played for Mexican side Guadalajara, with his most recent appearance coming on December 1.
He left the club at the end of his contract at the end of last year and he hasn’t signed for anyone else in the months since.
But Chicharito has had an impressive career, playing 157 times for Man United and scoring 59 goals for the Red Devils.
He also scored seven goals for Real Madrid during a loan spell, before spending two years in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.
The forward returned to England with West Ham in 2017, ahead of a spell back in Spain and then a move to the MLS with LA Galaxy.

When is the World Cup?
Hernandez also picked up over 100 caps for Mexico, but he’ll now be watching them from the FOX Sports studio this summer.
And the World Cup is coming up thick and fast.
The opening game of the tournament takes place on June 11 and it will run all the way through to the final on Sunday, July 19.
