Manchester City managed to put an end to their run of just two win sin their last seven matches in all competitions, including defeats in each of their last two games on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win over the Premier League’s bottom club, Wolves.

The victory took Pep Guardiola’s side back to within four points of the top of the Premier League table, and the Spaniard even managed to rest some of his key players ahead of what is a crucial match on Wednesday against the reigning Turkish champions.

The Cityzens face an uncertain task of needing to win by as many goals as possible, as one of eight teams lodged between sixth and 13th in the table all tied on 13 points all fighting for a top eight finish with goal difference almost certain to be difference maker.

The Manchester side start the night in 11th position, just two goals worse off than Chelsea who currently occupy the all important eighth position and know that as big a win as possible could be necessary to boost their goal difference by enough to sneak into the top eight.

Galatasaray make the trip to Manchester having lost just one of theirl last nine matches but with only one win in three after returning to winning ways against Karagumruk on Saturday evening, opening up a three point gap at the top of the Super Lig.

Okan Buruk’s side head to the Etihad having guaranteed their place in the knockout phase play-offs of this season’s Champions League after picking up 10 points from their seven matches so far and will have their minds set on a seeded position, currently just one point and one place outside the top 16.

The Turks have won their last three matches away from home in all competitions, however their hosts are unbeaten in their last eight matches at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 12 goals in their last two games in front of their home fans.

Wednesday night will be the first ever competitive meeting between the two sides.
