Makai Lemon picks jersey number that will have Eagles fans thinking Super Bowl

The Philadelphia Eagles stole Makai Lemon from the grip of the Pittsburgh Steelers during the NFL Draft. Landing the USC football star wide receiver rises as the latest aggressive move under general manager Howie Roseman.

Now the first rounder picked a jersey number that has Philly fans thinking about their third Super Bowl championship.

The newest Eagles wideout will wear No. 9 per Eagles insider for The Athletic Zach Berman. Eagle fans remember who last wore the number.

“Nick Foles gave him the blessing,” Berman posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Lemon needed to reach out to the revered ex-Eagles quarterback to make it happen.

“The two spoke. Lemon is the first one to wear it since Nick Foles,” Berman added.

Foles is the first QB to lead the franchise to their first Vince Lombardi Trophy. Now fellow Eagles Super Bowl winner Jalen Hurts will develop chemistry with the explosive USC wideout.

Lemon skyrocketed on draft boards following pre-draft workouts and past college film. Draft expert Matt Miller dropped a glowing take on the LA native.

“Lemon ranked as my top wide receiver in the class and was an exceptional value at No. 20, especially because pre-draft rumors had him going to the Rams at No. 13 or the Jets at No. 16,” Miller began. “An added factor is the shrewd move by the Eagles to trade up and jump the Steelers — who were on the phone with Lemon telling him he would be their pick at No. 21.”
