Luka Doncic breaks silence on separation from fiancée amid custody battle

In the midst of his custody battle over his daughters, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has separated from his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.

Doncic told ESPN about his latest move and issued a statement on the matter. This comes after he requested his daughters to be in the United States with him during the Lakers’ ongoing season.

“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” Dončić said in a statement. “Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”

Doncic’s response comes after TMZ Sports reported that Goltes filed a petition seeking child support and attorney fees from him. According to ESPN’s report, it was filed in California.

His one daughter was with him for three months in the spring of 2025, while his other has reportedly “never been to the state.” Per the filing, Goltes returned to Slovenia in May 2025. Their two daughters have lived with her since. Apparently, Doncic had “no idea” the petition was filed.

Sources added that Doncic pays for his daughters’ expenses “without limitation.” Now, his fiancée wants even more, according to the filing.

Doncic and Goltes were together for nearly a decade before their separation. However, they’ve known each other even longer, as they are childhood friends. He proposed to her in July 2023, and now their relationship may be over.

Their first daughter was born in November 2023 while he was still with the Dallas Mavericks. Their second daughter was born in the months after he was traded to the Lakers.
