Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League with an ugly and hard-fought 1-0 win over Newcastle United.
In a game of few chances, Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the contest nine minutes in.
The Gunners worked a corner short into Kai Havertz, and he laid it off to the edge of the area.
Eze rifled in a strike that flew into the top corner.
From there, there weren’t many chances for either side, but Yoane Wissa should have scored ten minutes from time when Nick Woltemade chipped the ball through for the striker.
But he skied it over the bar, and Arsenal held on.
