LSU signing ineligible ex-St. John’s star who was involved in Celtics-Jazz trade
The LSU basketball program is signing a player that may not be able to play this upcoming college basketball season. Former St. John’s star RJ Luis Jr. is signing with the Tigers, per On3. He is currently not eligible and will likely need to file a lawsuit to play, the outlet reported Tuesday.
Luis was the Big East Player of the Year in 2025 at St. John’s. He was also involved in an NBA trade in August 2025, between the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz. He never played in a regular season NBA game.
