Lionel Messi stat highlights Raiders’ struggles vs. Chiefs
Former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr caught an internet stray from out of nowhere amid the 2026 World Cup.
Carr and the Raiders’ struggles to find success on the road against their AFC West Division rivals, Kansas City Chiefs, have been put front and center by a post on X (formerly Twitter) by a post shared by B/R Gridiron on Wednesday.
Following Lionel Messi and Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Algeria on Tuesday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, the Inter Miami superstar improved his personal record at the stadium to 2-0. As juxtaposed by B/R Gridiron’s post, Carr went just 1-9 there in his career.
Messi ensured that Argentina would come away with a win and avoid a stunning upset in a World Cup opener by scoring not just one, not two, but three goals to lead his side to romp over Algeria.
All that being said, the only win in Kansas City by the Raiders with Carr under center was a memorable one and continues to be talked about to this day, especially by Las Vegas supporters.
In a Week 5 game at Arrowhead, Carr led the Raiders to a 40-32 win to snap the franchise’s 13-game losing skid in Kansas City going back to 2012. In that contest, the former Fresno State Bulldogs football star quarterback outplayed Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes.
Carr passed for 347 yards and three touchdowns against an interception on 22-of-31 pass completions. Then-Raiders running back Josh Jacobs also had a big hand in that success, as he rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.
