LeBron James sends touching message to Alex Caruso after Game 4
The Los Angeles Lakers saw their season come to an end on Monday following their Game 4 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Semifinals. The series saw the Lakers pitted against a familiar face in Alex Caruso, who even got into it a bit with some chirping alongside LeBron James while the series was still in Oklahoma City.
LeBron James and Alex Caruso played together on the Lakers’ 2020 championship team, and following the Thunder’s Game 4 win, James had a simple message for his former teammate.
“Go get another one,” James told Caruso as the pair greeted each other as the game ended.
Should the Thunder win the title this season, it would be Caruso’s third championship as he was an integral part of last season’s title-winning team. Beginning with his stint with the Lakers, Caruso has established himself as one of the NBA’s elite role players.
He was a thorn in James’ and the Lakers’ side throughout the series, providing timely 3-point shots and physical defense. During the Thunder’s playoff run thus far, Caruso has been averaging 7.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals with splits of 48 percent shooting from the field and 38.2 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
Caruso began his NBA career with the Lakers via a two-way contract during the 2017-18 season. He was the first ever player to sign a two-way deal with the Lakers. He joined the team a full season before James arrived in the 2018 offseason. He originally signed a two-year contract with the Lakers the same offseason they acquired Anthony Davis. When his contract was up, the Lakers did not re-sign him.
