Lars Nootbaar shares heartfelt message for fans after Diamondbacks trade

The MLB Trade Deadline concluded with the St. Louis Cardinals trading OF Lars Nootbaar to the Arizona Diamonds. In return, St. Louis will receive pitching prospects Daniel Eagen and Sandro Santana.

Before heading to the desert, Nootbaar made a statement to St. Louis fans on X, formerly Twitter, thanking them for their support. He recognized it was a hard reality to leave as he highlighted key moments of his career.

“It’s an emotional time for me,” he said. “I just want to thank you guys for everything from being an eighth round draft pick in 2018 to being on the team in ’21.h On a 17-game winning streak. Being able to play with legends in the game in 2022. Winning the division. All the way to this day forward. You guys have had my back and gave me great support.”

In 2021, the Cardinals went on a 17-game winning streak that enabled them to win the National League Wild Card. The next year, Nootbaar played alongside Albert Pujols, Adam Wainwright, and Yadier Molina in their final seasons.

“From a kid that wasn’t a high prospect at all. You guys embraced me like I was, and St. Louis was a special place. It’s the only place I’ve ever known. I bought a house there and everything. This is tough, but I just want to thank you guys so much for everything you guys have done. You guys me way more to me than I’ve ever meant to you guys. Thank you.”
