Landry Shamet sounds off on key reason that hurt Knicks in Game 3
The New York Knicks were in a golden position to put themselves in a commanding position in the 2026 NBA Finals up 2-0 on the San Antonio Spurs with the series shifting to Madison Square Garden. However, the Spurs turned the tables on the Knicks, scoring an all-important 115-111 victory to cut New York’s series lead to 2-1 — remaining alive in the Finals in the process.
One of the Knicks’ heroes in this playoff run, Landry Shamet, did not have a brilliant game on Monday night. Usually a spark plug off the bench, Shamet struggled to the tune of a three-point night on 1-8 shooting from the field (1-7 from deep). Moreover, he did not have a good night on defense, racking up five fouls in 23 minutes of play.
In the end, the Knicks lost the Shamet minutes by 20 points — a devastating outcome in a game they lost by four. But beyond that, the Knicks were careless with the basketball. They coughed up the ball 13 times compared to the Spurs’ eight, and San Antonio converted those giveaways for 21 points.
Shamet simply vowed that he and the Knicks will be better in Game 4 as they look to protect homecourt advantage in a way the Spurs weren’t able to in Games 1 and 2.
“We’ll be better Game 4,” Shamet told reporters, via SNY.

The Knicks didn’t have the best of performances in the second half, as they turned the ball over six times in the final 24 minutes of the game. Moreover, their proficiency from deep disappeared, as they made just five of their 20 attempts from beyond the arc in that fateful second half.
There are plenty of good signs still for the Knicks to hold on to. Despite rough nights from Shamet and Mikal Bridges and a quiet outing from Karl-Anthony Towns, they were still in the game until the final minute or so. The Spurs simply deserve credit for making shots when it mattered the most.
