Lakers’ Luka Doncic shares heartwarming photos with daughter

Luka Doncic is currently embroiled in a custody battle for his daughters after separating from his former fiance, Anamaria Goltes. Doncic, in the aftermath of the Los Angeles Lakers’ elimination from the 2026 NBA playoffs, posted on social media that he will not be representing Slovenia in competitions this summer so he can dedicate his time to his two daughters, Gabriela and Olivia.

On Monday, Doncic shared heartwarming photos of him spending time with his daughters as he continues to make good on his promise to prioritize his family — going back home to Slovenia just to do so.

According to the rumor mill, Doncic and his fiance’s split came as a result of their disagreement regarding where to raise their two children. The Lakers star wanted his family to live with him in LA, while Goltes wanted their daughters to stay with her in Slovenia even during the NBA season. This has not been confirmed by either side, but this has been the widely-recognized reason behind their split.

The silver lining behind the Lakers’ elimination at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder is that Doncic no longer had the pressure of needing to come back from a hamstring injury. Moreover, he had the license to fly back to Slovenia to start the mending of fences between him and his family.

Doncic played through family troubles during the 2025-26 season, and this did not appear to affect his performance on the court one bit. He won the scoring title, averaging 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game. He made it to the All-NBA First Team and finished fourth in the MVP voting, behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, and Victor Wembanyama.

The Lakers are counting on Doncic to continue being at his best moving forward as they look to improve upon a very successful 2025-26 campaign.
