Kyle Schwarber, Aaron Judge engage in epic home run battle in separate Sunday matinees

Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber are two of the top home run hitters in Major League Baseball today, and on Sunday afternoon, they gave the fans in attendance at their respective games a firsthand demonstration of the raw power that they possess at the plate.

Schwarber, who entered this afternoon’s matchup against the visiting Colorado Rockies with 14 home runs already under his belt, hit not one but two more home runs off Rockies pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano. His first blast was a solo shot straight into the shrubbery of center field:

He followed that up with another solo shot, this time to right field, and took the overall lead in MLB home runs so far this season with 16:

Last season, Schwarber was nothing short of impressive, blasting 56 total home runs for the Philadelphia Phillies, good for second overall among all batters; he was bested only by Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners, who hit 60 home runs. Schwarber’s 56 home runs was also one better than the 55 hit by Shohei Ohtani of the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

Meanwhile, Judge continued his impressive campaign with the New York Yankees by matching Schwarber with his 16th home run, launching a solo shot to right field against the Milwaukee Brewers and pitcher Logan Henderson.

Judge hit 53 home runs last season.

The Yankees are in a strong position, currently finding themselves in second place in the American League East Division behind only the Tampa Bay Rays with a 26-14 record through their first 4o games of 2026. Meanwhile, the Phillies aren’t in as advantageous a position, currently four games below the .500 mark with a record of 18-22. They’re third overall in the National League East behind the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals.
