Knicks fans will love Josh Hart’s immediate reaction to Jose Alvarado’s new contract

The New York Knicks are still in the afterglow of winning the NBA championship. The Knicks performed brilliantly throughout the playoffs, sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers prior to their triumph over the Spurs. The series against the Spurs showed that the Knicks had a remarkable fighting spirit because they had to fight from double-digit deficits in all four of their victories. Jalen Brunson was the central figure in the victory and he won the Bill Russell Award as the series MVP. However, he deferred to his teammates and credited them for the ability to win the NBA championship.

Alvarado’s key contribution in Game 4

The key victory in the series came in Game 4 when the Knicks overcame a 29-point deficit to win the game and take a 3-1 series lead. Jose Alvarado came off the bench to take some of the pressure off of Brunson with his speed, ball handling and clutch shooting. He scored 8 points, handed out 3 assists and came down with 2 rebounds in 16 minutes of action.

That performance was rewarded by the Knicks as they have given Alvarado a three-year, $14 million contract. Alvarado turned down the $4.5 million player option he had and the Knicks have demonstrated their confidence in Alvarado going forward.
