Jose Mourinho imposes strict new rules for Jude Bellingham and whole Real Madrid squad

Jose Mourinho has laid down the law at Real Madrid, reintroducing five strict regulations that carry severe consequences if breached.

The Portuguese manager has introduced a list of regulations at the Bernabeu that are based around punctuality, training, recovery and nutrition.

Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz has reported that the Chelsea legend has placed squad discipline at the top of his priorities in order to rebuild the dressing room culture at Los Blancos.

Under the new guidelines, any player who arrives late for a scheduled training session is immediately pulled from group work and forced to train individually in the gym – while also being automatically dropped from the next match.

There will be no fines acting as a punishment for lateness, as Mourinho felt penalties meant nothing to players on huge salaries – with massive superstars such as Kylian Mbappe earning over €600k per week.

The 63-year-old has taken inspiration from rival Hansi Flick who introduced similar rules when he arrived at Barcelona with the Catalan giants winning the league in each of the past two seasons.

He has also opted to refine the standards surrounding recovery and has insisted that players stay inside the club’s facilities to complete their programmes instead of going offsite.

Additionally, the squad had to take on a new prescribed diet rather than one based on the personal choice of individual athletes.

The Portuguese manager aims to create harmony in the squad in order to create more collective performances.

Los Blancos’ hierarchy employed Mourinho for the role due to his experience and ability after the club fell short of their expectations in the previous two seasons.

Real Madrid sit in second in La Liga after three games, being on the same points as Barcelona, who are top on goal difference.

Real have won their first three La Liga matches against Espanyol, Real Sociedad, and Malaga.

With a team full of superstars, including Mbappe and Vinicius Jr – Andy Brassell believes the relationship between the Portuguese coach and Jude Bellingham will be integral for the team.

He said: “We wonder how he’s going to click with Mbappe and Vini Jr. as a coach. I think very little time has been spent wondering how he’s going to click with Bellingham.

“The early signs are excellent, but really, Bellingham is everything that Mourinho likes as a player. Not just because he’s elite, but because he’s a big, big character.

“And I think that’s really, really important. And someone who I think will be feeling challenged in the right way by Mourinho as well.

“He’s the sort of personality that likes to be held to account.”

So far, the high-profile stars of the team have publicly praised Mourinho – Mbappe said the coach ‘knows how to win’ and Bellingham called him ‘a dream’ to work with.

After the England international returned to training following his extended summer break after the World Cup, he instantly felt the connection with the new coach.

He said: “I feel like I already have a relationship with [Mourinho after one day].

“It’s a dream for me to work with a coach like Mourinho. I’ve only had one chance to see him, but I’m very excited to see what he’s like.

“[I’ve been] running a lot in the heat, playing a lot of football with my teammates.

“It’s tough, but it’s good as well, to enjoy it, this suffering! I really like this kind of hard work.”

He added: “The World Cup was a great experience for me and my England teammates, but I’m ready to come back and compete. Hopefully, we can win.”
