The Green Bay Packers didn’t need Jordan Love to do much to secure their seventh win of the season. Even so, their quarterback responded when he needed to step up.

That’s why Brent Sobleski gave him a modest grade for his Week 12 performance. In his latest column, he graded Love with a ‘C’ after the 23-6 win:

“Jordan Love wasn’t slinging the ball everywhere against the Vikings. He didn’t need to do so. The Green Bay Packers used the tried-and-true method of running the ball, even without Josh Jacobs in the lineup due to injury, and playing good defense to garner a decisive victory. Emanuel Wilson carried the ball 28 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns. With this approach, all a team asks of its quarterback is to not make mistakes. Love didn’t. He did enough to keep his team on track and let everyone else go to work,” Sobleski wrote.

Love completed just 14 of 21 passes for 139 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also had three scrambles for 15 yards.

Those numbers certainly don’t pop out, but still, this team executed the game plan almost perfectly. They knew they were going to square off against one of the toughest defenses in the game, so it was crucial to play mistake-free football and not put the ball in harm’s way.

The Packers turned to backup running back Emanuel Wilson to replace the injured Josh Jacobs, and he responded by rushing for over 100 yards and a couple of scores. Love was only there to make sure to keep the chains in motion whenever the running game couldn’t get the job done.

On top of that, the defense stayed disciplined and waited for their chances to flip the field. Sure enough, J.J. McCarthy made some big mistakes, and the Packers made the most of each and every single one of them.

Now, this team will gear up for a challenging road date with the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. That game will have some massive playoff implications, and Love will have to play mistake-free football again.
