He ran down Persica to win by a nose on the line, with Boiling Point finishing third.

In doing so, the Hugo Palmer-trained horse clinched £70,888 in prize money for its owners.

The triumph also marks a second successive victory after winning at Longchamp last month.

Seagulls Eleven has now claimed four wins from 15 flat race starts.

Friday’s race came on the opening day of the 2026 Epsom Downs Derby Festival.

The action continues into Saturday live on talkSPORT, with the Epsom Oaks and the Epsom Derby taking centre stage.

Retirement gift

Seagulls Eleven’s latest win comes just days after Milner announced his retirement from professional football.

The three-time Premier League champion ended his career at the age of 40.

Having spend 24 years in senior football, Milner made a record 658 Premier League appearances.

Those outings came across spells for Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Leeds United and Brighton.

Meanwhile, Milner won 12 trophies including the Champions League and Club World Cup alongside his trio of Premier League titles.

He also scored once in 61 caps for England as well as representing the Three Lions at four major tournaments.

The midfielder spent eight years at Anfield as a player between 2015 and 2023.
