Jack Eichel’s blunt reaction to breaking goal drought vs. Avalanche

The Vegas Golden Knights came out of Game 2 with a win over the Colorado Avalanche. Jack Eichel and his teammates trailed in the game for much of the contest. However, Eichel came through clutch with a goal and an assist in the third period. As a result, Vegas is two wins away from the 2026 Stanley Cup Final.

It was a much-needed goal for the Golden Knights star. It marked his first goal since April 24 against the Utah Mammoth. And he had a rather blunt reaction to finally getting himself back on the scoresheet on Thursday night.

“I haven’t scored in a million days,” Eichel joked after Game 2, via ESPN. “It was just one of those plays where I had the opportunity to shoot it. I wanted to try being aggressive a little more and get pucks to the net… It was nice to see that one go in.”

Eichel’s goal sparked Vegas’s comeback on Thursday night. He added an assist to his ledger on Ivan Barbashev’s game-winning goal shortly after he tied it. Barbashev went on to ice the game with his second goal of the night on an empty net.

The Golden Knights return home to Vegas with a 2-0 series lead. And they have put a lot of pressure on Colorado to take both games in Sin City. Only one team in NHL history — the 1945 Detroit Red Wings — won a Conference Final or a Stanley Cup Semifinal after dropping the first two games on home ice.

Eichel can breathe a bit easier knowing he has finally found the back of the net again. Now, he and his teammates need to translate this momentum into finishing off the Avs. Game 3 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night.
