Embiid returned to the 76ers for Game 3 on Friday night after missing Game 2 with hip soreness and an ankle sprain, and he’s set to play in Sunday’s Game 4 with the season on the line.

Joel Embiid is officially listed as probable for Game 4, so there would have to be a major setback for him not to play. Notably, Embiid’s only listed injury is the hip soreness, with the ankle injury no longer showing up on the report.

Embiid gutted through 35 minutes in a 108-94 Game 3 loss. He finished with 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks. In Game 1, the big man managed just 14 points on 3-of-11 shooting, four rebounds and one assist, looking noticeably limited throughout. That led to him missing Game 2.

It’s a far cry from the game-changing ability Embiid showed in the first-round comeback against the Boston Celtics. Embiid missed the first three games of that series due to an appendectomy, but he returned in Game 4. While Philly lost that game, three straight wins followed, with the former MVP putting up 34 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in a dominant Game 7. He also had 33 points in Game 5 in Boston.

With the 76ers in a 3-0 hole, their season is just about over. But it would still be nice to give their fans at least one more win on their home court, so we’ll see what kind of performance Embiid can muster. Sixers co-star Tyrese Maxey is also battling through issues with his finger injury, while Knicks forward OG Anunoby is questionable with the hamstring injury that kept him out of Game 3.
