Pete Crow-Armstrong is in the middle of a breakout year this season and has been on a tear in recent outings. He’s firmly in the mix for the NL MVP Award, and the Chicago Cubs star is now getting his hat thrown into the ring as the new face of MLB.

During the latest episode of “Foul Territory,” former catcher A.J. Pierzynski is convinced that the Cubs’ 24-year-old outfielder is on the path to becoming the face of the league. Crow-Armstrong’s exciting play on offense and defense, matched with his high level of efficiency, is why Pierzynski is ready for the PCA takeover.

“I think that PCA is becoming one of the faces of baseball,” Pierzynski said. “As far as, like, Shohei [Ohtani], yes. Bryce [Harper], probably yes. There’s four or five guys that you look at in baseball and say, ‘I know who they are.’ [Mike] Trout was that guy for a long time.

“I think PCA is slowly starting to get to that point because, you know what the best part about PCA is? People love to watch him,” Pierzynski continued. “Because he’s fun, he’s laughing, he’s having a good time, and that means something.”

The four-year veteran has recorded five home runs in his last two outings, catapulting Pete Crow-Armstrong to 38 dingers on the season. Only one player in MLB has more this year, and that’s Philadelphia Phillies star Kyle Schwarber, who has 40.

But Crow-Armstrong has been consistent all year long. Through 527 at-bats, the two-time All-Star has recorded 149 hits, 38 home runs, and 91 RBIs, giving him a .283 batting average and .377 OBP. He’s also stolen 32 bases and leads the league with an 8.5 WAR. The Cubs star also leads the NL in slugging percentage (.577) and OPS (.954).

Pete Crow-Armstrong will have the chance to continue his MVP case on Monday. Chicago is scheduled to take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the first matchup of a four-game series.
