Insider makes Marcus Freeman NFL prediction that Notre Dame fans won’t love

Marcus Freeman has high aspirations for the Notre Dame football team again this season. He led the Fighting Irish to the College Football Playoffs after the 2024 season, making it all the way to the championship game against Ohio State.

The Fighting Irish are expected to have another huge season in 2026, and Freeman’s team opens its season with a game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay against the Wisconsin Badgers. Notre Dame should have one of the top teams in the nation.

Notre Dame was one of the best teams in college football at the conclusion of the 2025 season, as they won their last 10 games. However, Notre Dame narrowly lost to Miami and Texas A&M in the first two games of the year, and those back to back defeats prevented the Fighting Irish from making the playoffs.

Freeman may not be coaching at the college level much longer. College football insider Chris Low believes the NFL will come calling for Freeman’s services in the foreseeable future. “I think Marcus Freeman will be in the NFL at some point,” Low said. “He will be a head coach in the NFL.”

Low said that Freeman is becoming one of the most successful recruiters in college football and that he has the kind of strong personality and appeal that brings top college players to his program. He pointed out that Freeman is winning a lot of college football battles with other schools that bring in top players.

Freeman has been the head coach at Notre Dame since the start of the 2022 season. He has a record of 43-12, and the Fighting Irish have won 10 or more games in three consecutive seasons.
