‘I wasn’t impressed’ – Chris Eubank Jr delivers Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury prediction

Chris Eubank Jr thinks Anthony Joshua may have an edge in his Battle of Britain fight against Tyson Fury.

The heavyweight titans are set to square off at the back end of the year after respective tune-up fights.

Joshua locks horns with unknown Albanian Kristian Prenga on July 25, while Fury is set to return to the ring sometime in August.

Although both sides have reportedly signed contracts, there are still some details to be ironed out.

The location for the fight has been the centre of discussion in recent weeks, with conversations ongoing about whether the domestic clash should take place in Britain or the United States.

It was recently reported that Las Vegas is the current frontrunner due to concerns with the temperamental UK weather.

What is Eubank’s prediction?

Regardless of where it takes place, Eubank Jr thinks it’s Joshua over Fury.

“I think AJ has been a lot more disciplined than Fury has during his career, and I think he is probably in a better headspace right now,” Eubank Jr told Boxing King Media.

“Probably [better] physically too. I wasn’t impressed by Fury’s last fight [with Arslanbek Makhmudov]…

“I think if that fight happens, then AJ probably has the edge.”

Eubank Jr in Nigeria

Eubank Jr was speaking during a recent visit to Nigeria.

‘Next Gen’ was in the country’s capital, Lagos, to meet with promoter Dr Ezekiel Adamu about the possibility of Eubank Jr staging his next fight in ‘Africa’s Big Apple’.

Chris Eubank Jr has been over here for the past week, and we’ve had great discussions with the Government,” Adamu told Sky Sports.

“We hope the next time we see Chris Eubank in the ring, it’ll be in Lagos.

“Chris Eubank Jr is one of the biggest draws in world boxing.

“We want to create a moment this year where the whole world stops. There is a very strong likelihood we make that happen.”

What is the latest on Eubank Jr’s next fight?

Eubank Jr’s manager, Elliott Amoakoh, has told talkSPORT.com that Lagos is one of multiple possible locations for his client’s next fight.

Amoakoh insists that discussions are in the early stages, but that they hope to get Eubank Jr back in the ring this year.

Eubank Jr has been out of action since his gruelling unanimous decision loss to Conor Benn in November.
