Harry Kane explains how he ended up playing golf with Donald Trump before World Cup
England captain Harry Kane has confirmed he once played golf with United States president Donald Trump.
Kane described it as a ‘pretty surreal experience’ while also heaping praise on Trump’s game.

Earlier this week, the president revealed that he had enjoyed a round with the striker telling reporters: “I think Kane is a great player. I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He’s a good golfer too. He’s really great.”
Kane has now verified Trump’s claims and confirmed that it took place 18 months ago in Florida.
“I played alright to be honest, but 18 months ago he invited me to play when I was down in Palm Beach,” Kane said ahead of England’s World Cup quarter-final clash with Norway in Miami.
“So when the President invites you somewhere, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and obviously play golf with him.
“His golf is pretty good, to be honest with you,” the England striker added.
“I hope I can play golf as good as him when I’m his age, that’s for sure. A unique experience, but I was just grateful that he invited me to play.”
Trump has been heavily involved in the World Cup, having staged a deeply controversial intervention so that USA forward Folarin Balogun would not be suspended for the last-16 defeat to Belgium.
Kane was speaking after England’s training session at Inter Miami’s facilities.
The MLS side are co-owned by ex-England captain David Beckham and the 51-year-old was in attendance at the Fort Lauderdale site to watch Thomas Tuchel’s side’s preparations.
Kane revealed that Beckham spoke to the players in the gym prior to their training session and wished them well for Saturday’s last-eight clash.

“He just wished us luck. After most games, he messages me, and we stay in touch,” Kane said of Beckham’s visit.
“He’s a big England fan. We all know how much it meant for him to represent England and be captain and play the way he did every time he wore the shirt, so he was there to support us.
“Obviously, we were using his home, the home that he built, so we appreciate him doing that for us.
“It was good to catch up with him, and for some of the other lads to have a chat with him. He’s an England legend.
“He was wishing us well and hopefully we can do him proud.”
England’s clash with Norway kicks off at 10pm (UK time), 5pm (local) on Saturday.

The match will be broadcast live on talkSPORT. Adrian Durham is on presenting duties with commentary from Jim Proudfoot and former England captain Stuart Pearce.
England boss Thomas Tuchel is hoping to have a full bill of health, following doubts over Declan Rice and Marc Guehi’s participation.
Both players were present at training on Friday and now could be in contention to start the quarter-final clash.
The Three Lions booked their spot in the last-eight thanks to a heroic 3-2 victory over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
And Tuchel’s side know victory against a well-drilled Norway will see them take on either Argentina or Switzerland in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
