Guardians make Chase DeLauter injury move after losing Jose Ramirez to injury

The Cleveland Guardians are playing some solid baseball, but injuries may hurt them a little moving forward. After losing Jose Ramirez for possibly over a month because of a hamate fracture, they’re going to be looking for other players to step up. Unfortunately, they just received some more bad news, as Chase DeLauter was placed on the 10-day injured list, as he’s playing through a small fracture and bone bruise in his right rib.

DeLauter was unavailable for their latest game against the Milwaukee Brewers, and manager Steven Vogt noted that he would be day-to-day. It looks like the Guardians decided to just put him on the IL, and the hope is that he is back with the team sooner rather than later.

Even though the Guardians had questions in their outfield before this, with the injuries to DeLauter and Ramirez, they don’t make them any better.

After once being at the top of the division, the Guardians are now in second place, and there is a chance that, with the injuries, some trades could be coming, according to NHL insider Ken Rosenthal.

“The team the White Sox are battling at the top of the AL Central, the Cleveland Guardians, rarely are aggressive buyers,” Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported. “It’s not as if the Guardians are in an urgent position with any of their young players. They can see how the rest of the season plays out, gaining more information to determine which prospects they want to hold and which ones do not. But rival clubs already are calling on Triple-A catchers Bo Naylor, Cooper Ingle and Kody Huff, according to a person briefed on the Guards’ discussions.”

It will be interesting to see what the Guardians do as the season progresses.
