Golden Knights honor Kyle Busch in Game 3 vs. Avalanche

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are in the conference finals. The Vegas Golden Knights are currently up 2-0 over the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Finals. On Sunday, the Golden Knights prepare for Game 3 and hope to make it a 3-0 lead in the series.

While the series turns to Vegas, the Golden Knights made sure to celebrate one of the city’s own before the game, celebrating NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, according to Mayson Marie of 8 News.

The Golden Knights gave tribute to Kyle Busch, who passed away on Thursday, prior to the game. The tribute was for a sports legend who was born in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Busch was born on May 2, 1985, in Las Vegas and grew up in the city. His father, Tom, was a mechanic at a Ford dealership in the city, and Busch grew up racing go-karts in the cul-de-sac where the family lives.

Busch became a legend in Vegas, with fans at the game chanting “Rowdy” in celebration of the driver.

Busch was born May 2, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the brother of Kyle Busch.  He joined the NASCAR Busch Series, now the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2003 as a development driver.

He would go on to have a long list of accomplishments. He is the all-time winner in combined wins between the truck series, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and the Cup series. He is also the all-time winner at both the truck series and the lower-level stock car series.

Busch was scheduled to race in the Coca-Cola 600, which is currently going on. The race made tribute to Busch before the event. At the time of writing, Denny Hamlin currently leads the race 215 laps in.
