Giants legend Elli Manning savagely ends Matt Ryan debate with ‘rings’ mic drop

Fanbases will always debate players, and former NFL quarterbacks New York Giants legend Eli Manning and the Atlanta Falcons icon Matt Ryan have always been divisive figures.

A Falcons fanpage dropped a “hot take” that Ryan was a “better QB than” Manning. The fanpage then claimed that “people just worship rings.”

However, Manning actually weighed in, responding, “I will ponder this while I play with my rings…” alluding to his two Super Bowl victories.

Throughout their careers, Manning and Ryan faced each other six times. Ryan got the better of Manning in the regular season, winning three of their five encounters. However, Manning won their only playoff matchup during the 2011 postseason when the Giants won their second Super Bowl with him.

Manning played in two more games than Ryan throughout their careers. However, Ryan has 15 more wins, a significantly higher completion percentage, and over 5,000 more passing yards and 15 more touchdowns. Ryan also threw 61 fewer interceptions.

Now, they are even in Pro Bowl nods (four), but Ryan is a former First-team All-Pro player (in 2016). Manning was never named to an All-Pro team.

What Manning ultimately has over Ryan is his two Super Bowl wins. Manning beat the New England Patriots, led by Tom Brady, twice in the Super Bowl.

Ryan did make a Super Bowl in 2017, but the Falcons famously blew a 28-3 lead against the Patriots in that game. He won the NFL MVP award that year, passing for 4,944 yards and 38 touchdowns.

Both men are retired now. Ryan recently became the president of football for the Falcons. Initially, Ryan became an analyst for CBS Sports after retiring. Now, he is back in the Falcons facility.

Manning hosts the ManningCast alongside his brother, Peyton Manning. Their show serves as an alternative to ESPN’s main Monday Night Football broadcasts.
