Galaxy-Dynamo Apple TV broadcast gets revolutionary iPhone 17 twist

Apple TV is making waves in how to capture sports content.

On Thursday, May 21, Apple TV announced that it will be entering the Major League Soccer in a unique way by broadcasting an upcoming game entirely shot on an iPhone 17 Pro. This Saturday, May 23, Apple TV will present a special live MLS match between the LA Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo FC. The match takes place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, which is the final weekend before MLS takes a pause in its regular season for the highly anticipated World Cup.

This is not the first time the iPhone 17 Pro has been used to capture professional sports again. Last year, during a Friday Night Baseball matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers, Apple TV used the iPhone 17 Pro to “capture select moments from the game and cinematic in-stadium footage.” The iPhone 17 Pro, which was released on September 19, 2025, has also been used in moments during the MLS Cup in 2025 as well as throughout the regular 2026 MLS season.

The iPhone 17 Pro is Apple’s latest phone offering, which features a triple 48-megapixel rear setup (Main, Ultra Wide, and a 4x Telephoto lens), an 18MP front camera with auto-framing Center Stage, and records up to 4K 120 fps Dolby Vision video.

This Saturday’s LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo FC match will continue to put Apple on the map, with it being the first live professional sporting event captured entirely on iPhone. Fans can tune in to Apple TV at 7:30 p.m. PT to see iPhone 17 Pro make its mark in sports.
