Fever’s Stephanie White shares honest Caitlin Clark assessment after Tempo blowout
Caitlin Clark has two vices she must correct if she is going to vie for a WNBA MVP crown: 3-point shooting and turnovers. Those weaknesses were on full display in Tuesday’s home game against the Toronto Tempo, as she went 1-of-8 from deep and committed six turnovers, but the Indiana Fever cornerstone still played a big role in her team’s 113-91 victory.
Clark continues to showcase her playmaking excellence. She totaled a season-high 14 assists to go along with her 21 points, paving the way for what was an overall superb offensive showing for Indiana. Stephanie White believes Clark is looking like her old self, at least in terms of explosiveness.
“She did a great job of finding her teammates,” the Fever head coach told reporters after her team’s fourth straight win, per The Athletic’s James Boyd. “Again, her pace, you can tell she’s got her burst back. She does a good job of forcing the action in the ball screen and really creates 2 on 1 opportunities.”

Although Clark and her fans would prefer to see better shooting numbers, this first quarter-plus of the campaign has largely been about the 2024 All-WNBA First-Team selection inching toward her pre-injury form. She only played 13 games last year, so complications were sure to arise in 2026. Caitlin Clark is still the engine of this squad, though.
The Fever shot 52 percent from the field and 43 percent from behind the 3-point line versus Toronto, with Kelsey Mitchell posting 27 points (9-of-11) and Sophie Cunningham adding 24 of her own in 24 minutes off the bench (8-of-11). Clark drove the action and managed to stay incredibly active despite not being at her best, and that is the mark of a winning player.
Indiana (9-5) will have a day to reload before welcoming in Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream (9-4) on Thursday.
