Fever’s Sophie Cunningham goes ‘Sicko Mode’ after 3-point explosion vs. Tempo
The Indiana Fever won their fourth consecutive game on Tuesday night. Indiana crushed Toronto 113-91 in a game where every Fever player was playing at an extremely high level. One Fever player stole the show by carrying over her hot streak from Indiana’s previous victory.
Fever guard Sophie Cunningham kept her hot streak alive against the Tempo. The veteran guard logged 24 points, six rebounds, and two assists in her 24 minutes coming off the bench.
Cunningham celebrated her performance on social media, reposting a photo of herself making a 3-pointer bearing the caption “SOPHIE FOR THREE… (& again, & again, & again).” She added Travis Scott’s song SICKO MODE to the post, a subtle nod to how well she played against Toronto.
Cunningham made a statement to end Indiana’s recent victory against Connecticut, scoring the team’s final 11 points to seal the victory. During her hot streak, Cunningham nailed three consecutive 3-pointers.
The 29-year-old guard one-upped herself against Toronto, especially from behind the arc. Cunningham went 6-of-7 from 3-point range on Tuesday, far surpassing anyone else on either team. She also came one 3-pointer away from tying the entire Tempo roster in shots from downtown.
Fever forward Kelsey Mitchell praised her teammate for the incredible outing, calling her an essential part of the team.
“Sophie is like the glue stick to this team,” Mitchell said after the game, per USA Sports.
Indiana is now 9-5 on the season and sits comfortably at third in the Eastern Conference standings. The Fever could make a big leap up the standings if they can win their next matchup.
Next up for the Fever is a home game against the Dream on June 18th at 7:30PM ET.
