Fever’s Caitlin Clark gets final injury status for Fire game
The Indiana Fever (4-3) attracted some controversy when Caitlin Clark was a late scratch in a May 20 home game versus the Portland Fire. Well, the star point guard will get her first crack at the WNBA expansion team on Saturday night. Clark is available to play, per Chloe Peterson of IndyStarSports.
Portland’s Moda Center should be rocking, as the home team tries to avenge last Wednesday’s 90-73 loss against the Fever. Some people believe that Indiana’s offense can get stagnant when No. 22 is in action, because she carries such a high usage, but there is no denying her impact. When at full force, Clark has the ability to daze defenses and enchant crowds. She plans to do just that versus the Fire.
The 2024 All-WNBA First-Team selection missed most of the 2025 campaign due to lower-body soft-tissue injuries and has managed a back issue early this season, so fans just want to see her fully unleashed. She has produced big stat lines — ranks third with 22.5 points per game and leads the W with 8.5 assists per contest — but a streaky jump shot (41.0 percent from the field) and rough turnover rate still need to be addressed.
Health comes first, though. As Caitlin Clark becomes further removed from her injury problems, she will have a better chance of fulfilling her MVP-sized potential. The 24-year-old native of Des Moines, Iowa is already quite the game-changer, however. She also just happens to be the biggest draw in women;s basketball. All eyes will be on Clark in this prime-time clash.
Opening tip-off is approximately at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
