Even ‘King’ Henrik Lundqvist bows to Josh Hart’s post-Finals Knicks demand
The New York Knicks are in for a championship parade and a memorable celebration following their victory in the NBA Finals over the San Antonio Spurs. Even though the Knicks fell behind by double digits in every game of the series, the Knicks won the title in five games and earned their first NBA title since 1973.

Jalen Brunson became one of New York City’s all-time sports heroes with his performance in the fifth game, scoring 45 points to lead the Knicks. He got a huge assist from Josh Hart, the Knicks’ all-purpose player who scored 13 point and 11 rebounds. When Hart was on the floor in Game 5, the Knicks had a plus-15 point advantage because Hart was able to dominate on the defensive end of the floor in addition to his offensive contributions.
After the game was over and the championship trophy was handed out, Hart celebrated along with his teammates and answered questions from the media. Hart played the disrespect card to the hilt and he put out a post on X telling all his followers to call him by the title he had just earned. “From now on address me as champ,” read Hart’s post — which was in all caps.
Former New York Rangers goalie Henrik Ludqvist showed plenty of cross-sport respect. He followed with an answering post of his own that showed a happy face with a salute and another in sunglasses, indicating that he would call his fellow Madison Square Garden “resident” by the name that Hart requested.
Hart had a memorable playoff performance for the Knicks. He averaged 10.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists during New York’s 19-game postseason run.
