Emma Raducanu spotted with heavy strapping on injury as Wimbledon order of play confirmed

Emma Raducanu was seen sporting heavy strapping across her leg just 48 hours before her opening match at Wimbledon.

Earlier this week, reports claimed the British No.1 required the use of an orthopedic boot and fears were further heightened when she sat out Wimbledon practice on Thursday.

With her first round match against Antonia Ruzic set for 1pm on Monday, sightings of Raducanu wearing strapping around her injury have done little to allay any concerns around her participation at Wimbledon.

She has not played a competitive match since slipping to defeat against Donna Vekic in the final at Queens two weeks ago.

She finished as runner-up at Queens despite wearing strapping to her thigh following a slip in the quarter-finals.

She was forced to play five games in quick succession with the quarter-final and semi-final taking place on the same day.

However, it is believed that Raducanu’s new issue is not related to her thigh.

Heavy schedule

Speaking to reporters following her defeat at Queens, Raducanu said: “I’ve just been dealing with a few niggles over the past few weeks, and of course the load I have had in the last week.

“It’s been a great problem to have, playing this many matches.”

Raducanu has been seeded 30th for Wimbledon which gets underway on Monday.

Raducanu joins a star-studded list of names that will feature on the opening day with Novak Djokovic, Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner all in action.

On Centre Court, reigning men’s champion Jannik Sinner launches his title defence against Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic.

Raducanu will be hoping to go further than her previous best of the round of 16 this year

That is followed by Aryna Sabalenka’s clash with Teodora Kostovic before seven-time men’s winner Novak Djokovic faces China’s Yibing Wu.

Court One sees Raducanu face Ruzic before Marin Cilic battles Daniil Medvedev and French Open women’s champion Mirra Andreeva takes on Magda Linette.

Elsewhere, Britain’s Cameron Norrie faces Michael Zhang, Felix Gill takes on Spain’s Rafael Jodar and Hannah Klugman battles Czechia’s Barbora Krejcikova.
