The decision was made following a 2-1 loss to Colchester United on Saturday.

Fleetwood Town can confirm Pete Wild has left the club with immediate effect,” a club statement read.

“Following six defeats in the last seven games the club felt now is the right time to make a change to the first team management.

“Assistant head coach Adam Temple will also depart and everyone at the club would like to place on record their thanks to Pete and Adam for their hard work and professionalism during his time at the club.

“The club will issue a further update on the first team staff in due course.”

Wild departs Fleetwood with the club sitting 15th in League Two on 34 points, 14 clear of the relegation zone.

However, the alarming run of form prompted the club to take immediate action.

Under Wild, Fleetwood endured a winless start to 2026 having lost all five games in the new year.

The League Two side last tasted victory on December 20 when they beat Gillingham 2-1.

Prior to the alarming run of form, Fleetwood had lost just six times in league action all season.

Wild was appointed as the Fishermen’s boss on December 24 in 2024 and steered the club to a 14th-place finish last term.

Talk about an unhappy start to the new year

However, he won’t get the chance to complete a full season at the helm.

Speaking after the Colchester defeat, Wild bemoaned his side’s horror injury woes and felt his players had ‘come off the gas’ slightly.

“We have 10 injured, five for the season,” Wild said, per the Colchester Gazette.

“It’s tough for everyone at the moment.

“A lot of them are just not in that vein of form and Colchester are in the form we were in a month ago.

“They’re doing exactly what we were doing a month ago, finding a way to win and we’re in the opposite moment.

“Everybody just comes off the gas a little bit and everybody feels more tired when you’re losing, everybody doesn’t pass with the same confidence when you’re losing and that’s the moment we’re in.”
