Tuesday’s betting tips

Bet of the Day – Bayern Munich to beat PSG @ 17/10

There’s a Champions League blockbuster taking place on Tuesday night when PSG and Bayern Munich clash in the French capital.

The semi-final tie looks sure to deliver two enthralling contests and Bayern look a bet to secure a first-leg advantage.

The Bavarians defeated a chaotic, but dangerous Real Madrid side in the quarter-finals, helped by a first-leg victory at the Bernabeu. Vincent Kompany’s side scored six goals and hit 44 efforts on goal across the two legs and were able to maintain their poise and composure under maximum pressure from Los Blancos.

PSG are the defending European champions, and of course know how to win, but it hasn’t been an entirely convincing continental campaign so far this term.

The league phase of the competition saw Luis Enrique’s men lose 2-1 to Bayern in Paris while they were under the cosh against Liverpool too. It could have been a different quarter-final outcome had the Alexis Mac Allister penalty decision not been overturned.

Winning in Paris is no easy task, but Bayern have enough quality, class and steel to think they are overpriced to establish a first-leg advantage.

Special of the Day – Southampton to win & over 2.5 goals @ 43/20

There’s a huge battle at the top end of the Championship with Southampton fancied to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive with a victory over top-two rivals Ipswich Town.

Clearly, Wednesday’s tie is not ideally timed for the Saints following Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester City at Wembley, but the effort of the south coast side in that contest suggests they will be difficult to beat, in a game which should see goals.

Tonda Eckert’s men have won nine of their last 10 second-tier games to surge up the Championship table and they are the most in-form side in the country, having gone 15 league games unbeaten.

Ipswich didn’t deserve anything more than a 0-0 draw after hitting only three shots on target at West Brom on Saturday and the Suffolk side could suffer automatic-promotion heartbreak.

Treble – Stockport, Barnsley, Peterborough to win @ 6/1

Stockport County have won 10 of their last 12 matches at Edgeley Park and they can make sure of a League One play-off place by beating a Port Vale side who are heading for League Two.

Northampton Town will also be playing League Two football next season after losing 11 of their last 12 third-tier games and the Cobblers are likely to fall again when free-scoring Barnsley head for Sixfields.

Peterborough United have scored 38 goals in 21 home League One games this season and that firepower and desperation should carry Posh to safety when they take on a perhaps fatigued  Mansfield Town side with little riding on the game.
