Ecuador miraculously advances to World Cup’s Round of 32 with Germany upset
With the World Cup underway in the Group E block, there was an outstanding game with an even more newsworthy ending as Ecuador beat Germany, 2-1, on Thursday. As Ecuador’s World Cup plans were helped by a clutch goal in the 77th minute, the result has punched the country’s ticket to the Round of 32.
“ECUADOR ARE INTO THE ROUND OF 32! AGAINST THE ODDS, AGAINST ALL PROBABILITY, THEY BEAT GERMANY! THEY ARE THROUGH!” Ian Darke, the Fox Sports play-by-play commentator, exclaimed after the end of the game.
