Eagles rumors: Insider makes big WR prediction after A.J. Brown trade

After trading away AJ Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles are now figuring out exactly how their wide receiver room will look like in 2026. The last few spots available will come down to a fierce training camp battle.

DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon and Hollywood Brown seem like locks. That leaves players like Elijah Moore, Samori Toure and Johnny Wilson amongst others battling it out for one of the final spots on the roster. When the Eagles reveal their final roster, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports is predicting Wilson will survive final cuts.

“The Eagles were very high last summer on 6-foot-6 Johnny Wilson, who would have made the team if he hadn’t gotten hurt in camp,” Frank wrote. “His size, physicality and blocking ability set him apart from every other receiver on the roster”

“My money is on Wilson just because he has such an unusual skill set and frame,” he continued. “He’s different than anyone else, and Roseman values unique traits. With a good camp, I think he sticks.”

Wilson originally joined the Eagles a sixth-round pick in 2024. He appeared in 16 games as a rookie, starting four of them while making five receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. The receiver went on to win a Super Bowl with Philadelphia.

But Wilson missed the entire 2025 season due to knee and ankle surgeries. That setback may have made the receiver a forgotten man amongst some fans.

However, now healthy, Wilson looks ready to contribute again. The Eagles’ passing attack at large is going to look different without Brown. If Frank’s prediction comes true, Philadelphia should expect to see a bit more of Wilson in 2026.
