Eagles’ Makai Lemon injury pops up right after A.J. Brown trade
The Philadelphia Eagles have set exceptionally high expectations for rookie wide receiver Makai Lemon, who was drafted to help rejuvenate the team’s offense.
According to new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, the former USC standout has already made a stellar impression during early offseason practices by showcasing advanced habits typically seen in veterans.
In his first meeting with local media during OTAs, Mannion praised Lemon’s remarkable work ethic and attention to detail.
He noted that Lemon is a joy to work with, studies hard, and takes great pride in the little things, calling his mature approach a defining trait of a “true pro.”
However, a sudden health concern has introduced complications to Lemon’s smooth integration.
Following the significant trade that sent star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots, team insider Jeff McLane shared a troubling update on X regarding the modified wide receiver group.
McLane observed, “Eagles WRs sans A.J. Brown. Rookie Makai Lemon appears to be injured, sporting a sleeve on his right leg.”

Although the video captured Lemon walking at the facility, the sudden use of protective leg gear raised immediate questions about his durability.
Despite this unexpected setback, the organization remains fully committed to Lemon’s future.
Recently, he became the first first-round selection to sign his rookie contract.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport on X, Lemon finalized a four-year, fully guaranteed deal that includes an $11.5 million signing bonus.
This proactive investment aligns with the high praise from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, who compared Lemon’s smooth, manipulative route running to that of Amon-Ra St. Brown, projecting him as an instant NFL starter.
