Dwayne Johnson says his new song was inspired by his daughters

Just days after announcing a major new career change, Dwayne Johnson has now opened up more in detail about his new song and its history. Last week, Johnson shared his new song on social media and dedicated it to his daughters.

“A song for my daughters, Tia, Jazzy & Simone. There’s a very special “one of one” bond between a daughter and her dad ~ and it’s a deeper love that I never knew, you took my heart and you pulled me through. I may stumble every once in a while, but as long as these calloused hands have life flowing through them, I’ll always have your backs and I’ll always be your lifelong (and one day your spiritual) protector and supporter. And I’ll never ever stop trying to be the best dad and friend I can be for you,” he wrote.

Now, days after, he has opened up about his bond with his daughters and how they inspired him to make the song. The former WWE Superstar also opened up about his complicated relationship with his father. Appearing on Sirius XM, Johnson reflected on his complicated relationship and claimed that despite that, the new song reminded him of his father.

“I wrote and sang a song with [Iam Tongi] that’s featured on our ‘Voices Across The Ocean’ album (inspired by Moana), and the song is called “Your Dad”. A song that was inspired by my three daughters, Simone, Jazzy and Tia [Three white heart emojis],” he wrote.

“I don’t have a son, but I did have a dad once and that was a very complex relationship that never reconciled before he died. That father-son relationship is a crucial one that can go either way. Even though this song is for my daughters, I can’t help but think of my dad a little every time I sing it. He never said these words to me, but maybe he felt these words at some point when I was a little kid,” he further added.

Johnson never shared a warm bond with his father, something which was even portrayed on the TV show Young Rock. Following in his father’s footsteps and his Samoan heritage, Johnson entered the pro-wrestling industry before switching to Hollywood.
