Dontayvion Wicks rep earns ‘very dangerous’ declaration from Eagles legend
When news broke that AJ Brown was officially traded to the New England Patriots on June 1, fans of the Philadelphia Eagles openly wondered how Nick Sirianni, Sean Mannion, and company would replace the Pro Bowl wide receiver’s production.
Would it come down to DeVonta Smith, who has always been a Pro Bowl-caliber contributor for the Birds but has only had one season as a true WR1 during his rookie season? Or speaking of rookies, what about Makai Lemon, who is coming off of a Biletnikoff-winning season at USC with the Trojans? Dark horse camp sensation Darius Cooper? Hollywood Brown?
Well, if his production at joint practice with the New England Patriots is of any indication, it might just be Dontayvion Wicks, the fourth-year wide receiver Howie Roseman traded a pair of draft picks to acquire from the Green Bay Packers earlier this offseason.
Watching back one particular rep from joint practices, where Wicks absolutely cooked Carlton Davis III with his route running, Eagles legend Seth Joyner couldn’t help but give the 25-year-old props, noting that if he can add that level of technical proficiency to Philadelphia’s offense during the regular season, they have a chance to be “very dangerous.”
“D**n, that’s nasty!” Joyner wrote. “If he’s running routes like that this year, the Birds WR corps might be very dangerous!”
Damn, that's nasty! If he's running routes like that this year, the Birds WR corps might be very dangerous!

Known for his size, speed, and contested ball abilities during his run with the Packers, Wicks found himself a casualty of the numbers game in Green Bay, with Brian Gutekunst opting to trade him to Philadelphia to consolidate his offensive weapons. On paper, that move may work out for the Packers, as Wicks might have been their WR4 in 2026, but as a member of the Eagles? He appears to have the inside track to be WR2 in Week 1, with the potential to be a “very dangerous” addition indeed if he can replace Brown’s role in the Sirianni offense as part of a more balanced offensive attack.
