Dodgers star Freddie Freeman’s 560th career double matches major MLB milestone
Los Angeles Dodgers star first baseman Freddie Freeman has unlocked another notable milestone in his career in the big leagues.
During Wednesday night’s game againt the San Diego Padres at Petco Park in San Diego, Freeman notched a double in each of his first two at-bats. The second one, which came in the third inning, gave him the 560th such hit in his MLB career, as noted by Dodger Insider on X, formerly Twitter.
“Freddie Freeman’s 560th career double ties him with Jeff Kent and Eddie Murray at No. 30 on the all-time list,” the post read.
After Shohei Ohtani started things off in the first inning with a home run and a flyout bu Mookie Betts, Freeman stepped into the plate and launched a double off Padres starter Randy Vasquez.
In the third frame, Freeman had quite a battle against Vasquez, as he got a ball on each of the first two pitches. He fouled the third one and earned a ball on the fourth. He got to a full count after a strike on the fifth pitch before an 86 mph slider from Vasquez led to Freeman’s historic double.
The Dodgers first baseman is still a dangerous hitter to face for any pitcher, even though his numbers are down compared to what he had in 2025.
The former National League Most Valuable Player and nine-time All-Star entered the Padres game batting .260/.342/.435 with six home runs, 23 RBIs, and 11 doubles in the 2026 campaign. At the same time, his strikeout rate (15.1%) is down while his walk rate (10.6%) is up.
