Caitlin Clark jokes about what’s lacking in Canada after Fever’s win vs. Tempo

The Indiana Fever took care of business on the road on Tuesday, beating the Toronto Tempo, 101-95, at Scotiabank Arena to notch their fifth straight win.

Kelsey Mitchell had a record-setting performance with a game-high 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Caitlin Clark added 24 points, three rebounds, and seven assists, while Aliyah Boston contributed 16 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks.

Clark carried Indiana in the fourth quarter, with Mitchell forced to stay on the bench due to “overheating” in the warm environment, according to coach Stephanie White. Clark was happy with their win, and she could not help but sneak in a dry joke—pun unintended.

“Maybe if Canada had air conditioning, that would be helpful. It’s a million degrees in here,” said Clark in the postgame interview.

“It’s been great. The fans were great tonight. It’s really cool to see how much women’s basketball has grown.”

The Fever also beat the Tempo, 113-91, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in their first meeting in June. While the summer heat was punishing, Clark said she is already looking forward to their return to Toronto.

“Really fun for my first time in Canada, and certainly excited to come back,” said the three-time All-Star.

The Fever improved to 24-12, including 11-6 on the road. The Tempo, meanwhile, suffered their 11th straight defeat, dropping to 10-24.

Echoing Clark’s message, Sophie Cunningham also lauded the crowd despite getting booed throughout the contest.

The Fever will try to keep their winning streak alive against the Dallas Wings at American Airlines Center on Thursday.
